Jennifer Zare - LISW-CP

Guided by a passion to help others overcome challenges and reach their full potential, Jennifer Zare founded Pathways Counseling Center in 2009.

Jennifer's education includes a B.A. in Psychology from The University of Notre Dame (2002) and an MSW from The University of Wisconsin-Madison (2003). She has nearly 20 years of experience treating children, adolescents, adults, and families facing a wide range of life challenges. Mrs. Zare’s training occurred in a variety of settings, including the University of Wisconsin Children’s Hospital, medical clinics, community mental health centers, private homes, and private practice settings.

Specializations include the treatment of anxiety (generalized, social, OCD, PTSD, selective mutism) and depressive disorders in children, adolescents, and adults. She also enjoys working with individuals facing life transitions, experiencing grief, and those challenged by chronic health conditions.

In order to meet the needs of each unique client, a research-based approach to therapy is utilized that includes: cognitive behavioral therapy methods (ERP, ACT, DBT, Solution-focused), family systems therapy, art and play therapy activities, behavior modification strategies, social skills training methods, and eastern meditation and mindfulness practices.  She is also equipped to utilize EMDR therapy methods which have been proven to be effective in treating trauma and overcoming negative beliefs and behavioral patterns that are often the root of "everyday problems."  For more information on this treatment method visit WHAT IS EMDR.

They say life’s best teacher is experience. As a wife and mother of four children, Jennifer’s therapeutic strategies have been well-informed and challenged. Experiencing the loss of her mother as a young adult further strengthened her ability to help others transform painful experiences into a catalyst for self-transformation.

She believes wholeheartedly that “it is our struggles that develop our strength.”
